A great turnout for the Vigil, and we have some photos to share with those of you who couldn’t be there, but were with us in spirit.
The event was a success, well attended and well received, and given front page coverage in the local media this morning.

Join us on the 11th May 2011, as we launch “A Decade of Action for Road Safety” in Guyana, along with other Nations across the globe. We have been granted the use of the parking area on Water Street, Georgetown, that is bordered by Muneshwar’s, Guyana Stores and the National Museum.
Expected to be in attendance are Government Ministers, Political Party Leaders, the Guyana Police Commissioner; the Traffic Chief, members of the National Road Safety Council, Various Ambassadors; members from the Private Sector; representatives of the Religious Sector; Special Invitees, and the Media.
There will be Key note address and the launching of the Decade of Action by the Honorouble Minister of Home Affairs, Clement Rohee. We will be introducing a school road safety crossing skit involving primary school children showing how to cross and use the roads properly; using props such as Mini traffic lights, mini cars and bicycles, mini buses etc.
Closing remarks will be made by Denise Dias of the Alicea Foundation.
There will be a special Signing of the Decade of Action petition and a symbolic release of balloons in memory of the victims of road crashes the world over.
The events begin sharply at 10:00 am
